The summer transfer window is almost upon us, with Premier League and Championship clubs, managers and players all hoping deals will be done before the next opportunity comes around on January 1, 2022.
Here’s what you need to know:
What time does the summer transfer window close today?
The summer transfer window officially closes at 11pm on Tuesday, August 31.
Last year’s deadline was pushed back due to the ongoing effects of the coronavirus pandemic, but it’s now back normal this year.
While many clubs prefer to get their business done well in advance of deadline day, we could yet see numerous deals get over the line.
Some transfer deals may be announced on Wednesday, September 1, and that is above board as long as the relevant paperwork has been filed by 11pm on Tuesday.
What about the transfer deadline in Europe?
While there is normally a delay between English leagues and Europe’s transfer deadline, all of the main European leagues this year have the same cut-off date, albeit different times.
In England and Spain, business must be done before 11pm while it is 5pm in Germany and 11.59pm in France.
