Here are today’s Premier League transfer headlines on Saturday, January 8.
Man Utd and Liverpool in £36m battle
Manchester United and Liverpool are on the brink of a bidding war for £36m-rated Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, according to reports.
The Athletic reports United could now find themselves in an “intense” battle with rivals Liverpool for his signature.
The 21-year-old has already been capped by France and was voted young player of the year in France last season.
Liverpool are very much credited with interest too, and a summer bidding war could now be on the cards.
Carragher wants Bellingham
Jamie Carragher has identified Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham as the one player he wants Liverpool to sign.
Carragher picked out the young England midfielder during an online Q&A in which he was asked who the club should target if they could only have one player.
The Sky Sports pundit would be happy for any deal to be done in the summer, with Bellingham identified as one of the brightest young talents in world football.
Unhappy Man Utd star leaves
Unhappy Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe has joined Serie A side Napoli on loan until the end of the season, the club have announced.
Tuanzebe is reported to be one of 13 unhappy players at the club who are looking to leave, according to the Mirror.
His exit is set to be the first of many to leave this month or in the summer, with a disgruntled squad needing a major overhaul.
United legend Lou Macari has urged Rangnick to “kick out” those causing disorder behind the scenes.
Speaking on MUT, he said: “Anyone kicking off in the dressing room, kick them out of the club. Get rid of them and I’m talking about the players doing that by the way.
“70,000 United supporters can’t be wrong every week. These players have to start showing something.”
‘Go for Ramsey and Bale’
Former Wales international Dean Saunders has told Newcastle United to make a double swoop for Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale.
“If I was Newcastle, I’d go and sign Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey,” Saunders told talkSPORT. “I’m not just saying that because they’re Welsh!
“They would definitely improve that team – and they’re available.
“Money talks and Ramsey left Arsenal on a free which meant he got all the money he was worth.
“There’s only about three or four clubs in the world who can pay his wages and Newcastle are one of them.
“Bale and Ramsey would improve them, Ramsey is available and I think Bale can be tempted.
“He’s only 31. He can be tempted to play now and get ready for the World Cup.
“He needs to be playing football and they can afford his wages.”
Arsenal star leaves
Arsenal have taken to Twitter to confirm Ainsley Maitland-Niles has joined Serie A giants AS Roma on loan for the remainder of the season.
Tottenham bid rejected
Spurs boss Antonio Conte has seen his first offer for Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie rejected by the Turin-based outfit.
Tottenham reportedly offered £25m for the American international, a figure seen as not enough by the Juve hierarchy.
Reports in Italy suggest Spurs were willing to offer Tanguy Ndombele as part of any potential deal.
