The complete list of nine events in England that will trial vaccine passports

A number of sporting events will be trialling out vaccine passports in the coming weeks, as lockdown regulations slowly begin to lift.

Cinema showings, comedy events and even a night club will also be testing them out on certain days.

Boris Johnson is set to make an announcement on Easter Monday, in which he is expected to announce the nine vaccine trials taking place across England, The Mirror reports.

The Prime Minister will confirm precisely what regulations will be put in place to allow people to attend sporting events, nightclubs and theatres as part of the Easter Monday announcement.

It will take into account vaccination status and a recent negative COVID-19 test or natural immunity shown by producing a positive PCR test taken in the past six months.

The first event is due to begin as soon as next week and it is part of the overall plan to scrap social distancing measures by June 21.

Here we look at the nine confirmed trials, set to take place across the country in the coming weeks.

1. Hot Water Comedy Club, Liverpool, April 16

A crowd of 300 people will be able to attend the M&S Bank arena in Liverpool to watch comics Paul Smith, Adam Rowe, Jamie Sutherland and Mick Ferry.

The event is being held by the Hot Water Comedy Club.

Its co-founder Binty Blair said: “It won’t be quite back to normality but it is a step in the right direction.”

2. FA Cup semi-final, Wembley Stadium, April 18

Ahead of the FA Cup final, the semi between Leicester City and Southampton will be played at Wembley with 4,000 fans allowed to watch.

The winners will face either Manchester City or Southampton in the final.

It will be British football’s biggest crowd since the first lockdown bvaccine passportut tickets will only be given to local residents including Brent Council staff, health workers, teachers and students over 18.

3. World Snooker, Crucible Theatre, April 17-May 3

Tickets have already been sold out with a full house of 1,000 snooker lovers attending the world championships at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre.

World Snooker Tour chairman Barry Hearn said: “This is fabulous news for the players who have really missed the buzz of playing in front of a crowd.”

4. Luna Cinema, Liverpool, April 23-25

The Luna Cinema will be showing films in an open air event with 1,000 movie fans allowed to attend.

The films that will be shown on Liverpool’s Waterfront have not yet been announced.

Luna Cinema founder George Wood said: “After months only being able to watch films at home, the return of the big screen cinema experience will get us all excited.”

5. Fun runs with 3,000 participants, Hatfield House, April 24-25

Three 10km fun runs will be held at Hatfield House in Hertfordshire with 3,000 runners and up to 3,000 spectators allowed at each.

Race meetings like other sporting events have been hit hard by the pandemic with hundreds cancelled over the past year.

Organisers from London Marathon Events say there has been a lot of interest in the fun runs.

6. Carabao Cup Final, Wembley Stadium, April 25

A crowd of 4,000 will be able to watch the Carabao Cup Final between Tottenham and Manchester City at Wembley.

It is unclear whether fans of City will be allowed to travel from Manchester for the match.

Entry will require a negative lateral flow test carried out less than 24 hours beforehand.

Spectators will also have to take a PCR home test afterwards.

7. ACC Business Event, Liverpool, April 28

A business conference with 1,000 attendees will take place at ACC Liverpool at the end of April.

People heading to the conference will need to have a lateral flow COVID-19 test beforehand.

The venue was opened in 2008 and has hosted large scale events including three Labour Party annual conferences.

8. Circus Nightclub, Liverpool, April 30-May 1

Dance music fans will be looking forward to Circus club nights where 3,000 will be allowed to attend.

The venue has not yet been revealed and ticket details will be provided later, say the organisers.

The Circus club started life in 2002 and has become one of the most popular nightlife venues in Liverpool.

9. FA Cup Final, Wembley Stadium, May 15

The final of the oldest knockout football competition in the world could see 21,000 fans attend Wembley.

One of the highlights of the sporting calendar, last year Arsenal won the competition with the match played behind closed doors for the first time in its history.

Now at the semi-final stage, Manchester City are favourites as they have tightened up their defence and opened up a large gap at the top of the Premier League.
