Swansea City transfer news: Former target closing in on Serie A move as Man United deal blow to Leeds United

Here are the latest transfer headlines from the Stadium

Thomas Henry closing in on Venezia move

Leuven striker Thomas Henry is reportedly closing in on a move to Serie A newcomers Venezia in a transfer that could be worth €6m.

Henry, who’s netted 41 goals in 71 appearances for the Belgian side, has been the subject of intense speculation this summer, with Swansea City one of a number of admirers.

However, club insiders always seemed pessimistic about the chances of getting a deal over the line, mainly due to the Swans’ meagre transfer budget.

Henry also reportedly attracted interest from Celtic, but Italy now looks to be Frenchman’s next destination, with Italian outlet Tutto Mercato now stating the striker is to fly in ahead of signing of four-year deal at the club.

Andre Gray left out again amid Swansea links

Andre Gray’s future at Watford still appears to be uncertain.

The striker was once again left out of the Hornets squad for the Premier League trip to Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday evening, with Swansea among a number of clubs believed to be interested in his signature.

Boss Russell Martin has already admitted that he’s an admirer of the 30-year-old, while the likes of QPR, Birmingham City, Middlesbrough and West Brom are among those mentioned as other potential suitors.

Daniel James to stay at Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has told Daniel James that he will not be leaving Manchester United this summer.

According to The Athletic, Solskjaer has decided that the former Swansea winger won’t be available for transfer, despite the arrival of Jadon Sancho, and indeed apparent interest from a number of other clubs.

The same report claims Leicester City have previously made a tentative enquiry for the Welshman, while former boss and current Brighton manager Graham Potter is also believed to have been monitoring the situation.

Leeds United are another side to have held a long-term historic interest, although there has been little indication of any recent approach from Elland Road

It now seems that James could be a part of Solskjaer’s plans for the upcoming season, having played 75 minutes of the Premier League opener with Leeds last weekend.
