Swansea City sign Man City defender Joel Latibeaudiere on permanent deal

Swansea City have signed Manchester City defender Joel Latibeaudiere on a permanent deal.

Following the departures of Mike van der Hoorn and Ben Wilmot, Steve Cooper has been keen to bolster his defensive options.

And he has added centre-back Latibeaudiere to his ranks on transfer deadline day.

Cooper worked with the 20-year-old during his time as manager of England’s Under-17s.

The defender never featured for Man City’s first team and joined FC Twente on loan last term.

He joins the Swans on a free transfer, signing a three-year deal with the club.

Latibeaudiere becomes the sixth member of the England squad that secured World Cup glory under Cooper in 2017 to link up with the head coach at Swansea, following in the footsteps of Conor Gallagher, Rhian Brewster, Marc Guehi, Freddie Woodman and Morgan Gibbs-White.

He will wear the number 22 shirt at Swansea.
