• Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
• Is there any warning for me to heed?

It is not yet over! Sin is a disgrace to any person (Proverbs 14:34), and this is what is demonstrated in this chapter. Notice the multiplied state of mourning and lamentation which the Daughter of Zion finds herself. Who is the actor in today’s passage (see vv.1–8, 17)?

Draw a table in your notebook and capture in it God’s actions and their outcomes in the life of his people. Read v.14. In which ways can we avoid either becoming such prophets or becoming victims of such prophets? Is God also calling you to stand firmly against such false prophets, so they do not continue to mislead his people?

Read v.17 and note down the things in your life ─ as an individual, family, community or nation ─ that can lead to such a state. Compare v.20 with Leviticus 26:27–33. What a dreadful experience for God’s people! Sin leads to devastating and bizarre outcomes. Let us avoid it by all means.

⁂ Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Practice/Word Application:
• Thought: Read Proverbs 29:1 thoughtfully and take note of the warning.

• Ask the Lord to grant us, our families, communities and nations the grace to respond to his warnings so we do not experience the devastating consequences of sin as indicated in today’s passage.
• Pray for those who also communicate the gospel some other ways ─ TV program, Radio Broadcasting, Drama/Film Productions, and Internet Publishing.
• Offer a prayer of faith in line with Hebrews 13:6

Read The Bible In One Year: 2 Chron. 1–3; Luke 5:1–16
