Piers Morgan says he has the capacity to sleep with 1000 supermodels as he hits back at ‘false’ coronavirus testing figures

Piers Morgan had some harsh words for Justice Secretary Robert Buckland this morning.

The breakfast presenter took some GMB viewers by surprise when in the middle of a rant he made an off the cuff claim that he has ‘the capacity to sleep with 1000 supermodels’.

The 55-year-old used the quirky analogy as he hit back at Robert Buckland’s statement on the amount of coronavirus tests happening in the UK.

His response came after a BBC interview earlier today where Buckland claimed 350,000 coronavirus tests were happening every day.

Clearly in disbelief of the statement, Piers highlighted to GMB viewers that the Government have the capacity to conduct 350,000 tests but are not actually doing that amount.

Piers was in disbelief of the statement being made about coronavirus testing

“It’s the Justice Secretary lying. ‘We see an increase of 350,000 tests being done every day’, no we don’t,” hit back Piers.

“That’s the capacity. As I’ve regularly said, I have the capacity to sleep with 1000 supermodels.

“Currently I’m sleeping with 0 supermodels, do you see the difference?”

Lightning the mood, co-host Susanna Reid interjected and asked for Piers’s claim to be fact checked.

She also added that the ‘supermodels might have a say in it’ whilst laughing.

Piers replied: “My wife might have a say in it, but the bottom line is 350,000 tests are not being done everyday.

“62,000 people are being tested everyday

“It is a deliberately malevolent, disingenuous way of re-framing what is happening.’

The original interview with the Justice Secretary went to air at 7.30am on BBC Breakfast.

Speaking on the show Buckland said:

“The government continues to work tirelessly to increase the number of test centres, laboratory capacity. All the things needed not just to get tests but the turnaround as well.”

He further went on to add:

“Every day we see an increase, 350,000 tests being done every day. We’ll be up to half a million in the next five weeks.”

Presenters from both shows highlighted the inaccuracy of his comment with Piers and Susanna ending their segment with cries of disbelief.

“We’ve got all this capacity but how come no one can get a damn test?!” said Piers.
