NBA Hall of Famer, Wes Unseld, dies

Five-time NBA All-Star and one of only two players to win NBA Rookie of the Year and MVP honors in the same season, Wes Unseld, has sadly passed away.

His family who made the announcement via the social media handle of NBA team, Washington Wizards, said Unseld died yesterday at the age of 74, after being diagnosed of Pneumonia and other illness.

Unseld led the Washington Bullets (now Washingotn Wizards) to the franchise’s only championship in 1978.

In a statement, Adam Silver, the N.B.A. commissioner, called Unseld “one of the most consequential players of his era,” adding, “Wes elevated the game by mastering the fundamentals.”
