A murder investigation is underway following the death of a man at a house in Cardiff.
Police were called to reports of a serious assault at an address in Cypress Crescent, St Mellons, at 8pm on Friday, October 16.
A spokeswoman said that despite the best efforts of emergency services the victim, a 54-year-old man, died at the scene.
A woman was taken to the University Hospital of Wales, where she currently remains, with serious injuries which aren’t believed to life-threatening.
A 21-year-old man, who is known to the victims, was arrested on Newport Road a short time after the incident was reported.
The spokeswoman added: “He remains in police custody.”
Detectives are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the incident, however, they are appealing for any witnesses who have not yet given an account to police to come forward.
A spokeswoman for the Welsh Ambulance Trust said they were called at 8.06pm and sent one ambulance and two rapid response vehicles.
The air ambulance also landed near the scene.
