Donald Trump has suggested November’s presidential election in the US should be postponed until people could “properly, securely and safely” vote.
The US president who is in the running for a reelection, floated a delay owing to the coronavirus that calls for limited public outings, and again spoke against postal voting as an alternative.
There is little evidence to support Mr Trump’s claims but he has persistently spoken against mail-in voting claiming it could be susceptible to fraud and inaccurate results .
US states want to make postal voting easier due to public health concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.
Under the US constitution, Mr Trump does not have the authority to postpone the election himself, and any delay would have to be approved by Congress.
