Court upholds Ararume

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was on Thursday March 18, ordered by a federal high court sitting in Abuja to issue a certificate of return within 72 hours to Ifeanyi Ararume, as winner of the Imo North Senatorial election.

Justice Taiwo Taiwo gave the judgement based on the result of the December 5, 2020, Imo North Senatorial bye-election, after Ararume was declared as the valid candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Taiwo who upheld the election of Ararume, also ruled that the 3rd defendant (Chukwuma Ibezim) remains disqualified based on the judgement of an Abuja Appeal Court.
